End of year meme I stole from Dr. 27

This is the first time I'm trying this but  I think it's a good way to summarize the year and I can refer to it a long way off in the future.
1. What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before?
I did my thesis proposal for my PhD and passed.
2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
 I did exercise more though I did not do as much as I had hoped, I didn't learn to drive though I did get my permit and1 impromtu lesson that was fun. I didn't attend any scientific conferences but I'm looking forward to fixing that next year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
YES!!! Two cousins and one friend. 3 new baby boys.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully no.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. Didn't leave the state at all since I got back in Jan.
6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
An iPad, and presentation at a conference.
7. What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory?
June 26, the day I passed my Qual..
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Passing my qual.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not going to a conference
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Usual sinus issues.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Cute skirt last week. Didn't do much shopping this year.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My mom for her unwavering support no matter what.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Politicians esp those who claim to be Christian because they do not exemplify Christ's teachings in any way.
14. Where did most of your money go?
What money??? Rent and bills.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Passing my qual.
16. What song/album will always remind you of 2013?
So many and though I don't like the song...Blurred Lines would be it.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
1. Happier or sadder? A lot happier in some  aspects and a little sadder in others.
2. Thinner or fatter? Same.
3. Richer or poorer? Poorer. Lots more debt than I'd like .
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Spent time with friends.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Spent time alone.
20. How will you be spending/did you spend Christmas?
With friends from church.
21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Mummy (Skype).
22. Did you fall in love in 2013?
Nope. Ended a 3 yr relationship. 
23. How many one night stands in this last year?
None.
24. What was your favourite TV programme?
The Blacklist.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.
26. What was the best book(s) you read?
The Honest Look. First time reading Lablit and loved it. Planning to read Welcome Home Sir before the year is out
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Emeli Sande. 
28. What did you want and get?
My drivers permit, new passport.
29. What did you want and not get?
Driver's license, iPad .
30. What were your favourite films of this year?
12 years a Slave, Best Man Holiday.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I volunteered at a halfway house and went to the movies (alone).
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
IDK, I may have not gotten all I wanted out of 2013 but I am pretty content with it overall. It could have been so much worse
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
I'm beginning to buy more dressy pieces instead of just cheap clothes to wear to lab.
34. What kept you sane?
My faith and friends.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I like Jennifer Lawrence brutal honesty.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
What political issue didn't is a better question, but that government shutdown took the cake.
37. Who did you miss?
My family. Being away esp this time of year is hard
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Met two people who are becoming good friends and my little sister (BBBS)
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
That it's all going to be OK. I can't really explain it but somewhere along the line I got some inner peace about my future career-wise. I may not get the job I want but I've accomplished enough to get a job and be productive in society which is more than a lot of people can say.
